React Testing Framework

Testing Framework

What is a React testing platform?

A React testing platform is simply the set of tools, libraries, and frameworks you use to write and run tests on your React components & applications. Testing in React helps you:

  • Ensure your components work correctly
  • Catch bugs early
  • Refactor code confidently
  • Verify UI & user interactions

1. Jest

  • What: A popular JavaScript testing framework by Facebook.
  • Use: Test runner & assertion library. Run your tests and checks that expectations are met.
  • Why: Fast, supports mocking & snapshot testing out of the box.

2. React Testing Library (RTL)

  • What: A library for testing React components.
  • Use: Helps you render components in tests and interact with them as a user would (click, type, etc).
  • Why: Encourages testing from the user’s perspective instead of implementation details.

3. Cypress

  • What: An end-to-end testing tool for full applications.
  • Use: Tests how the entire app behaves in the browser.
  • Why: Good for testing user flows like login, navigation, or shopping carts.
